Important Update Regarding Small & Large Animal After-Hours Services
Dear Valued Clients of Rose Vet,
As some may know, our hospital has faced ongoing changes and challenges in recent months, some of which have significantly impacted our large animal services. Unfortunately, one of the greatest challenges we continue to face is a severe shortage of large animal veterinarians. Despite our best efforts—including keeping an active job posting open for the past several years —we have received little to no response.
Because of this, we have made the very difficult decision to discontinue our large animal after-hours and on-call services.
Equine emergencies will be referred to Littleton Equine Medical Center.
Small ruminant and cattle emergencies will be referred to CSU Large Animal Emergency Services.
We will still be available for large animal appointments during regular business hours.
We will continue to provide after-hours coverage through the upcoming holiday weekend, but as of September 2nd, after-hours service will officially end.
In addition, based on feedback from our clients, we will discontinue the telephone triage service we have been utilizing. Our intention was to provide a means where clients could receive extra support to determine whether they’re pets were experiencing a true emergency needing immediate care or wait to call the hospital for an appointment the next day. This was not happening in the manner that we thought. If you believe your pet is having an emergency, we recommend that you contact a 24-hour emergency hospital. Here are our recommended locations:
- Animal ER Care (North): 5520 N. Nevada 719-260-7141
- North Springs Veterinary Referral Center: 10520 White Diamond Pt 719-920-4430
Please know this decision was not made lightly. We understand how important access to emergency care is for your animals and deeply regret the impact this change may cause. We remain committed to providing high-quality animal care during business hours and will continue working toward long-term solutions for our community.
Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in our team.
Sincerely,
Rose Vet Hospital Team
